I. GENERAL RULES

    1. All games will be played at the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion MAC court.
    2. Games will be played 5v5 on the MAC court.
    3. Co-Rec League: Teams will consist of 2 women, 2 men, and the goalie can be either gender. A team may start with a minimum of 3 players, but 1 of the court players must be a woman.
    4. Each game consists of two 20-minute halves, continuous clock. There are no time-outs.
    5. Game time is penalty time. Teams must be on their assigned court and ready to play at the scheduled game time.
    6. 1 Regular season games may end in a tie. During play-offs only, overtime will consist of two 5-minute sudden death periods. If the score is still tied, the game will go into a shoot- out with the following procedures:
      1. A coin toss will decide which team kicks first.
      2. Each captain will choose five players from those who were on the court at the end of the second overtime and arrange them in kicking order.
      3. Each team will be given five penalty kicks, alternating between teams.
      4. If the game remains tied after the shootout, a sudden death shoot-out will take place.
      5. A sudden death shoot-out will consist of the captains arranging the remaining players on the court to kick first, followed by the five players who kicked the penalty kicks. A win will be awarded to the team who scores if the other team misses the corresponding kick.
    7. All participants MUST wear athletic shoes while playing. Playing without shoes is NOT permitted.
    8. One person must be designated as goalie. No player may interfere with or impede the goalie in any manner.
    9. Once the goalkeeper has picked up the ball, he must redistribute it within six seconds; however, referees often use their discretion as long as the keeper is not obviously attempting to waste time.
    10. Substitutions may be made on the fly as in ice hockey.

  • *NOTE: Any team having a player disqualified from a game will play short-handed. No substitute will be allowed.

  1. Any fighting or unsportsmanlike activity directed at an opponent or an employee of the Intramural Sports Office will result in disciplinary action through the Intramural Sports Office.
  2. There are no refs, so players will call their own fouls. The IM official on duty has final say over any disputed call between players or captains.
  3. There is no offside rule.
